How did you pitch your book ideas to your publisher? What did you do to build relationships with the people working for your publisher and why was that important? What did you do to market your books? What was different about publishing your second book from your first? How did you navigate the low moments in the publication process and celebrate the highs?
These are some of the questions that David J. Pollay will answer during the next webinar in the Theano Coaching series about going from draft to publication.
David has published two books so far, and he is working on a third. The first is The Law of the Garbage Truck: How to Respond to People Who Dump on You, and How to Stop Dumping on Others. I think David is the one shown driving the garbage truck in the picture here. His second book is The 3 Promises: Find Joy Every Day. Do What You Love. Make A Difference...
He has generously offered to spend an hour with us reflecting on what he found worked, what he found didn't, and how he navigated the process. For example, he told me that people should ask themselves before signing up with a publisher: Do I like to work under time pressure?
As I did with Senia and Margaret, I'll ask David, "What do you know now that you wish you'd known then?"
If you have questions you would like for David to answer based on his experiences, please send them to Kathryn before the session. There will probably be time for questions at the end, but this way you can be more sure to get them addressed.
The recording will be available after the call either individually or via a subscription to the How to Get Your Writing Out the Door series. We plan to add one recording to this series every writers' workshop term.
